Dense Fog Creates Dangerous Commute, Delays Schools

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A thick fog is creating treacherous conditions for drivers and delaying some schools Wednesday morning.

A Dense Fog Advisory has been extended until noon for the Washington area.

“Drivers will have to be hyper vigilant today,” WNEW traffic report Lisa Baden said.

Likewise, fellow traffic anchor Julie Wright says drivers need to be alert and watch for children at bus stops. Wright encourages drivers to allow for extra time this morning to avoid problems.

Some flights have been delayed because of the low ceiling. Airport officials say passengers should check with their airlines before coming to the airport.

Schools in Carroll County, Md. and Culpeper County, Va. delayed classes for two hours because of the low visibility.

The fog is expected to burn off by mid-day as temperatures climb to near 52.

WNEW reporter George Mesthos has been tracking the foggy conditions around the area.
