DALLAS — The officer who arrested former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent after a fatal crash is expected to resume testifying at Brent’s intoxication manslaughter trial.
Irving Police Officer Travis Huckaby testified Monday afternoon that Brent showed signs that he was drunk during a field sobriety test following the December 2012 wreck.
The crash left teammate Jerry Brown dead and Brent facing charges that could carry up to 20 years in prison.
Brent’s trial began Monday. His attorney, George Milner, says Brent was “guilty of being stupid behind the wheel,” but not of being drunk when driving. But prosecutor Heath Harris contends that the case against Brent is simple, and authorities say blood tests confirm Brent’s blood-alcohol level was well above the legal limit for driving.
