Attorney General Agrees to Release D.C. Mayoral Documents
WASHINGTON — D.C.’s attorney general says he has given the city’s U.S. Attorney all mayoral documents relating to a settlement between Washington and its former Medicaid contractor.
Attorney General Irvin Nathan said Monday he will release all documents relating to a $7.5 million settlement between the district and D.C. Chartered Health Plan.
Nathan says U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen has agreed not to claim that the disclosure is a waiver of the district’s attorney-client privilege.
A spokesman for Machen tells The Washington Post that the deal does not assure that the office will get all relevant documents.
The 2011 settlement with the now-defunct Chartered Health came after owner Jeffrey Thompson said his firm had not been adequately reimbursed for the rates it was paying to children’s dental providers. He settled for $7.5 million.
