LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Police say an Ellicott City man has been charged with multiple counts of assault and sex offenses in three separate groping incidents over the past year.

Howard County Police officers were called to the 500 block of Columbia Road in Columbia on Monday for a report that a man had grabbed a woman between her legs as she walked into her apartment.

Police say the woman screamed and her friend — an off-duty police officer who was inside the apartment — ran after the suspect and held him until officers arrived.

The man is identified as 26-year-old Jeremy K. Ng.

Detectives reviewed other similar cases in 2013 and have connected Ng to those incidents.

In May, a woman reported that a man groped her under her skirt as she was getting into her car in a Best Buy parking lot in Columbia. Police reviewed video in that case and saw a man, who they now believe to be Ng, following the victim throughout the store and into the parking lot.

The victim in that case reported seeing the man get into a white Dodge Ram pick-up truck, which also was captured on camera.

Police say a truck matching that description was found at Ng’s home. Police say Ng is also known to drive a light blue Mazda sedan.

Investigators also reviewed a case from Jan. 10, 2013 in a parking lot at the Mall in Columbia. In that incident, a woman told police a man also grabbed her from behind in a manner similar to the other two cases.

Ng has been charged with three counts each of second-degree assault and fourth-degree sex offense. He was arrested three times between Jan. 6 and 8 as detectives pieced together the details of each case, according to police. In each arrest he was released on $5,000 bond.

Police have not released a photo of Ng at this time as detectives continue to investigate other possible victims who may need to identify him independently.

Anyone who may have been a victim in a similar incident is asked to contact police at 410-313-STOP (7667).
