LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Former Terp and current Baltimore Raven Torrey Smith, who is originally from Colonial Beach, Va., says he is planning a supply drive through his foundation after a school in the town burned down Sunday.
The building was once Colonial Beach High School, then a middle school, but most recently was used for storage, according to Fredericksburg.com.
About 280 students who attend school on the same campus as the building are going to be temporarily displaced, however, Fredericksburg.com reports.
A list of items that were lost includes thousands of dollars worth of gym equipment including jump ropes, sports balls and exercise DVDs, and some classroom and office supplies, as well.
The Torrey Smith Foundation provides at-risk youth with “physical, educational and financial challenges,” according to its website. This is not the first time that the non-profit has benefited the Fredericksburg area.
