ALDIE, Va. (CBSDC) — A husband and wife are dead and a third family member is injured following an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday night in Loudoun County.

A neighbor says she heard about four gunshots around 10:30 p.m. before a large police contingent descended on the townhouse in the 41700 block of Eloquence Square in Aldie.

The bodies of the husband and wife were discovered when Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies entered the home. Two teenage boys were inside the residence at the time of the shooting but were not injured, according to authorities.

The grandmother was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office. She is expected to survive.

Deputies took the boys and their elderly grandmother out of the house through a window.

Authorities say the teens have extended family in the area.

Residents are stunned and say the shooting is out of the ordinary for the normally quiet neighborhood.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear.

The identities of the victims were not immediately made available.
