WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The Washington Redskins quarterback has been selected by his teammates to receive the team’s Ed Block Courage Award, an honor given annually to a player who has overcome adversity.
Griffin returned from major knee surgery this season to start 13 games and throw for more than 3,200 yards, although his overall performance was down significantly from 2012 when he was the AP’s Offensive Rookie of the Year.
In a statement released by the team Tuesday, Griffin said the award “is not only a testament to how hard I worked to return, but also a testament to the support system I’ve had around me for the last 12 months.”
