LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins welcomed New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell to Ashburn on Monday.

The team confirmed Fewell’s interview for the head coaching job left vacant by the firing of Mike Shanahan last Monday. He is the fourth man in as many days and fifth overall to meet with general manager Bruce Allen.

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell interviewed with team officials at Redskins Park on Sunday. Caldwell guided the Indianapolis Colts to a Super Bowl appearance in his first of three seasons as head coach.

The interviews of Caldwell and Fewell satisfy the team’s compliance with the Rooney Rule for inclusion of minority candidates.

The Redskins have also interviewed Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, well-liked Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Rich Bisaccia, and Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott. The interview with McDermott was conducted in Charlotte.

The list of potential successors to Shanahan has expanded to include Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin, Cincinnati Bengals coordinators Mike Zimmer and Jay Gruden, San Francisco 49ers coordinators Greg Roman and Vic Fangio, as well as San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt according to multiple reports.
