TAKOMA PARK, Md. — Police say a woman has been charged with using a tiki torch to attack a pregnant woman inside a Takoma Park home on New Year’s Day.
Takoma Park Police say 46-year-old Katherlan Johnson of Washington has been charged in the attack. She also allegedly stabbed a man in the home before fleeing in a taxi. Police say Johnson knew the victims and that “this was not a random act of violence.”
Police say Johnson entered the Flower Avenue home on New Year’s Day by pushing in an air conditioning unit. The female victim, who is seven months pregnant, was treated at the scene. The male victim underwent surgery and is doing well, a police spokeswoman said Friday.
Johnson is charged with burglary and assault, among other charges.
