WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The Washington Redskins interviewed Cowboys special teams coach Rich Bisaccia for their head coaching vacancy on Friday, 106.7 The Fan’s Grant Paulsen has confirmed.
Although they didn’t need it, the Redskins asked permission to speak with Bisaccia, according to DallasCowboys.com’s Rowan Kavner. Teams can prevent other organizations from interviewing their employees for positions other than the head coaching position.
Prior to spending 2013 on the Cowboys staff, Bisaccia had fled the NFL for Auburn, which he prematurely left when the position in Dallas became available.
He coached the Chargers special teams from 2011-2012. Before that, he had an extended stay coaching special teams in Tampa Bay from 2002, when the Buccaneers won the Super Bowl, to 2010.
Redskins’ GM Bruce Allen’s and Bisaccia’s time in Tampa Bay overlapped from 2004-08.
