EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Brian Orakpo and Josh Morgan are among the inactive players for the Washington Redskins season finale in New Jersey against the New York Giants.
Orakpo suffered a groin injury last week against the Dallas Cowboys and Rob Jackson is expected to fill the void at linebacker on Sunday. Orakpo’s contract expires at the end of the season and the 10 sacks and pick six he compiled in 15 games likely means he can command a decent payday in free agency.
Washington’s roster and coaching staff appear destined for an overhaul once the final whistle blows at MetLife Stadium. Whether Orakpo has played his final down in a Redskins jersey is unclear.
Meanwhile, Morgan has reportedly come under fire for showing a lack of effort on the field and the benching may be a byproduct of the displeasure of the coaching staff. Aldrick Robinson is expected to start in his place at wide receiver.
Also inactive for Washington is quarterback Robert Griffin III who is sitting out his third straight and final game of the 2013 season.
Rounding out the list are cornerback Chase Minnifield, center J.D. Walton, guard Josh LeRibeus, and linebacker Adrian Robinson.
The Giants declared the following players inactive: quarterback Ryan Nassib, linebacker Allen Bradford, guards Eric Herman and Brandon Mosley, wide receiver Victor Cruz, tight end Adrien Robinson, and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.
