SILVER SPRING, Md. (CBSDC) - A head-on collision in Silver Spring killed one person and injured three others early Saturday morning.

Police detectives say a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling southbound on Old Columbia Pike around 2:40 a.m., when an Infiniti heading northbound drifted across the center line and into southbound traffic, colliding directly into the Tahoe.

The front passenger of the Infiniti – 18-year-old Oscar Alexander Orellana of Wheaton – was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 19-year-old Cristian Omar Vargas of Wheaton, and rear passenger, 23-year-old Kyle Robinson of Kensington, were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Tahoe, 25-year-old Edwin Alexander Rivera of Silver Spring, was also taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate whether alcohol and seat belt usage were factors in the crash.

No charges have been filed.
