LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A man was shot during an altercation with police in Southeast D.C. Friday.
D.C. Police Assistant Chief Alfred Durham says around 12:20 p.m., two officers stopped a man on 22nd Street Southeast near Jasper Avenue — where a physical altercation between police and the man ensued.
Durham says sometime during the scuffle, the man was shot by one of the officers.
Senior Correspondent Mark Segraves says the officer who fired his weapon is a 23-year veteran of MPD.
The unidentified man was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Neither officer was injured, according to police.
Detectives are investigating the shooting. There is no information yet on what led to the shooting.
