WASHINGTON — Two new magistrate judges have been appointed to serve on the D.C. Superior Court.

Officials announced the appointment of a longtime public defender and a project director at the nonprofit Children’s Law Center on Monday.

Renee Raymond, a graduate of Yale College and New York University law school, has worked for more than 20 years with the D.C. Public Defender Service. She will work in the court’s domestic violence unit.

Sean Staples, a graduate of Syracuse University and Catholic University of America’s law school, most recently served as a project director for the Children’s Law Center. He will work in family court.

They will join the court next month.
