LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Prince George’s County Police say a teen was fatally shot in Upper Marlboro overnight Saturday.

Officers found 19-year-old Rashad Andre Pinkney, of Capitol Heights, Md., suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the body on the steps of a home in the 11700 block of North Marlton Avenue around midnight, authorities say.

Pinkney was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers had been in the 11800 block of North Marlton Avenue about an hour earlier for a report of the sound of gunshots and discovered hundreds of party-goers out in the street, police say.

An officer who was attempting to control the house party was assaulted by a 17-year-old suspect, according to police.

As the officer tried to arrest her, she allegedly pushed the officer, breaking his leg and twisting his ankle. She is facing assault charges.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect or suspects or a motive in the shooting, and are offering a $25,000 reward to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest and indictment.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
