WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – When Majority Leader Harry Reid changed some of the Senate filibuster rules, many Republicans reacted with anger.

Perhaps none moreso than Arizona’s John McCain, reports the New York Times.

He was furious with the change that allowed some presidential nominees to be confirmed with a simple majority vote.

Before delivering a blistering speech criticizing the rule, McCain told Reid “Harry, I’m going to kick the crap out of you.”

According to McCain’s account, Reid responded “John, I would expect nothing less.”
