WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – Even as the Obama administration pushes Americans to purchase health insurance on the Obamacare exchanges, the president himself has not signed up for a plan.
CNN’s Brianna Keilar asked White House spokesman Jay Carney when President Obama would sign up for insurance.
“I have no updates on that. The president will purchase insurance on the exchanges,” Carney answered.
“He doesn’t have to do it,” Keilar followed up.
“He doesn’t,” Carney replied. “(T)he enrollment’s till March 31st. So when we have an update on it, we’ll provide it to you.”
Under the rules of the Affordable Care Act, Americans who want coverage to begin on January 1st must be enrolled by December 23rd.
Carney said the White House is confident anyone who wants coverage by the new year will be able to get it
