LANHAM, MD. – Prince George’s County police have arrested a man for two separate sexual assaults cases in the Chillum area back in October.
Authorities say on October 29, 33-year-old Emerito Chicas-Savala, of Silver Spring approached two women in the 6700 block of Belcrest Road. He pulled out a handgun and forced the women into a nearby wooded area demanding property and then sexually assaulted one of the victims, a 24-year-old woman.
About 20 minutes after the first incident and less than 100 yards away, Chicas-Savala walked up to a group of teenagers. He again pulled out a gun and robbed the victims. The suspect then sexually assaulted a 14-year-old female before fleeing the scene.
During the investigation, police obtained samples of Chicas-Salva DNA and matched the DNA profile of a sample obtained from the victims, linking him to the crime.
Chicas-Savala is facing several counts of first and second degree rape, armed robbery, and related charges. He is currently being held in Montgomery County on unrelated robbery charges.
