Anne Arundel Co. Woman Charged in Stabbing Death of Husband

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A suspicious death in Laurel, Md., is now being called a homicide by police.

Anne Arundel County authorities say they have charged 30-year-old Marquita Berry-Sutton in the death of her husband, 38-year-old Johnnie Sutton III, a member of the U.S. Army.

Berry-Sutton is charged with second degree murder and is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.

Officers responded to their residence, 8388 Frostwood Road in Laurel, at around 10:30 a.m. Dec. 13.

They found Johnnie Sutton dead, apparently the result of several stab wounds.

Berry-Sutton turned herself in on Dec. 14.

The couple has a 21-month-old child who was home at the time of the incident but was not harmed. The child is now in the custody of relatives.
