Weekend Metro Work to Affect Red, Orange and Blue Lines

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Weekend Metro service adjustments on the Red, Orange and Blue lines will go into effect beginning at 10 p.m. Friday night.

The adjustments will accommodate ongoing rebuilding projects.

Trains will operate every 20 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont on the Red Line and every 10 minutes during daytime hours between Grosvenor and Silver Spring. Orange and Blue Line trains will operate every 20 minutes as crews perform bridge repair work.

Trains on the Yellow and Green lines will operate at regular weekend intervals.

Metro is investing $5.5 billion to install new rail, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communication systems and more on its 106 miles of track. The ongoing project represents the largest capital investment in the system since its original construction in the early 1970s.
