CHEVERLY, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — A fatal crash completely closed the northbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway for more than seven hours Thursday morning.
U.S. Park Police say the crash occurred around 2 a.m. Thursday when a truck slowed to take the Landover Road exit and a sedan slammed into the back of the truck and flipped onto its roof.
Two passengers in the car — 21-year-old Ange D’Angela Barbour 34-year-old and Kiana Lorrane Wiggins — were pronounced dead on the scene.
The other passenger in the car, Seth DeBose, was transported to Prince George’s Hospital Center and is listed in critical condition. The driver of the car — 33-year-old Charles J. Wiggins — was transported to Prince George’s Hospital Center and treated for minor injuries.
The two people in the truck sustained minor injuries and walked away from the scene but were later located by authorities. Police say the driver, Terry Trice, was taken into custody because he had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation for murder. He has not been charged in relation to the crash.
Police say it is unclear whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
All northbound lanes between Kenilworth Avenue and New York Avenue were closed until after 9 a.m.
