ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins will place Evan Royster on injured reserve after the running back suffered a high ankle sprain against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Royster was carted to the locker room during the second quarter of the Redskins embarrassing loss on Sunday.
Head coach Mike Shanahan said the team had not yet made a decision on who would be signed in his place. However, Shanahan did suggest the team would fill the roster spot with a player currently on the practice squad.
“We haven’t made a decision yet who we’re going to bring up,” said Shanahan.
Royster was third on the depth chart behind Alfred Morris and Roy Helu this season. He was used as an emergency fullback two weeks ago with Darrel Young sidelined by a nagging hamstring and Niles Paul battling an illness.
He finished the season with just two carries and a catch.
