LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — The much-anticipated MARC train service between Baltimore and D.C. begins Saturday.
There will be nine round trips between the cities on Saturdays and six on Sundays.
The fares will be the same as weekday service, $7 between Baltimore and D.C., $6 between BWI and D.C. and $5 between Odenton and D.C. Weekly and monthly passes will be honored.
The new service is part of a new package of Maryland transportation projects that will cost a combined $1.5 billion. The funding was made possible by an increase in the state’s gasoline tax approved by the General Assembly this year.
The weekend service will cost $46 million.
