WASHINGTON — A former physician who started an orphanage in Kenya has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for engaging in illicit sexual conduct with minors.
Sixty-eight-year-old John Ott was sentenced Wednesday in federal court in Washington. He had pleaded guilty in May to one count of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place.
According to court documents, Ott worked for organizations and hospitals in Kenya. Prosecutors say between January 2004 and September 2012, Ott engaged in sexual conduct with 14 children ranging in age from 9 to 17 years.
