LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A 25-year-old female teacher charged with sexually abusing an autistic child has fled to Hong Kong to avoid prosecution, police say.
Yee Tak Sharon Kui is accused of twice engaging in sexual acts with a 15-year-old boy inside his family’s Silver Spring home. Police say the boy’s parents were not at the residence when the assaults occurred in November.
Kui worked as a teacher at The Frost School in Rockville, which caters to children with autism or emotional and behavioral disabilities.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security assisted police with the investigation.
Kui is charged with two counts of committing a third-degree sex offense, sex abuse of a minor, and sexual solicitation of a minor.
Montgomery County Police plan to discuss the case during a press conference Tuesday afternoon. The victim’s family will be in attendance.
