WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — A D.C. police officer took nude pictures of a 15-year-old girl when she had returned home after being reported missing, police and prosecutors said Tuesday.

Officer Marc Washington, a seven-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department, was arrested Monday and charged with production of child pornography. He was ordered held without bond Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Washington. It was not immediately clear if he had a lawyer.

According to a statement of facts, on Sunday, Washington took a report from a woman that her daughter was missing. Authorities say later that day, the girl returned home and her mother called 911 to have her removed from the missing person list.

Court documents said late Sunday, Washington, 32, went back to the apartment without being called. Authorities say Washington spoke with the girl’s mother, then asked to speak with the girl alone.

Court documents said Washington went to the girl’s bedroom and asked her to take off her top and bra so he could take pictures of any injuries.

Prosecutors said the girl told Washington that she had no injuries, but took off her top and bra. Court documents say Washington took pictures of the girl’s breasts and told her to put her clothes back on.

Prosecutors say Washington also took pictures of the girl’s unclothed lower body, claiming he needed to photograph her tattoos.

Authorities said after Washington left the apartment early Monday, the girl told her mother what had happened and the mother called 911.

Police said when officers stopped Washington, he had a digital camera. Court documents say that although Washington had deleted several images, law enforcers were able to recover some.

Authorities say photos of the girl were found, as well as nude pictures of other, unidentified people, at least two of whom appear to be minors.

“We invest a great amount of time and effort to ensure that we are hiring the right people and we continue to proactively monitor integrity across the department,” said Police Chief Cathy Lanier. “But to learn of an allegation of this kind against a person who is sworn to protect our children, it is both shocking and disturbing. We are fortunate that someone came forward to alert us of this behavior to ensure that we prevent future victims.”
