Pr. George’s Co. Council Votes to Raise Minimum Wage to $11.50

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Minimum wage in Prince George’s County will increase to $11.50 by 2017.

The county council voted 7-0 Wednesday in favor of raising the wage, which currently stands at $7.25.

The $4.25 difference will gradually by implemented over the next four years. The county plans to raise wages to $8.40 in 2014, $9.55 in 2015, $10.75 in 2016 and $11.50 in 2017.

On Tuesday, neighboring Montgomery County also voted in favor of a staggered increase to $11.50 from the current state and federal minimum.
