Police Arrest Murder Suspect in Gaithersburg Shooting
LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) – A Silver Spring has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a 25-year-old man in Gaithersburg Thursday afternoon.
Montgomery County Police say Jefferson Daniel Delgado, 20, is suspected of fatally shooting Michael Kirby Alvarado in the 400 block of North Summit Avenue. Gaithersburg Elementary School and Forest Oak Middle School were placed on lockdown Thursday, and Gaithersburg Middle School and Washington Grove Elementary School were instructed to shelter in place shortly after the shooting as police searched the area for two suspects.
Delgado was arrested Friday night after he attempted to escape from a car that detectives stopped, according to police.
Authorities believe the two men knew each other, but it is unclear the nature of their relationship. An investigation into other suspects is ongoing.
