LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Montgomery County Police are hoping to identify the man believed to be responsible for a series of sexual assaults that have gone unsolved for nearly 40 years.
A composite sketch of the suspect was created in the 1970’s after a witness described a man seen near the area where a sexual assault occurred in Wheaton. On Friday, authorities re-released the sketch in hopes of generating new leads for the cold case.
County police believe the same man is responsible for assaults that occurred around the same time in Silver Spring, Takoma Park and other locations in the metropolitan area.
The suspect is described as a white man who was in his late teens or early 20’s, roughly 5 feet 11 inches tall and 140 pounds at the time the assaults occurred. The man had acne and scars on the left side of his face.
Detectives say it is possible additional victims may not have come forward.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Montgomery County Police.
