Redskins Have ‘No Idea’ When Concussed Reed Can Return
ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — The status of Jordan Reed for Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers is unclear after the Washington Redskins tight end was unable to pass concussion-related tests on Thursday.
Reed was injured during the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday and cannot return until given clearance by an independent neurologist, per NFL protocol on concussions.
When asked about a timetable for Reed’s return on Thursday, Mike Shanahan said he had “no idea.”
“You don’t know about a concussion,” Shanahan said. “If you’ve ever had a concussion, you really don’t know until the next day. You wake up and see how you feel and the doctors will go through their tests. He did not pass the tests today, though.”
Fred Davis, now a mainstay on the inactive list, is expected to play for the first time since September 29 if Reed is unable to go against San Francisco.
