The Washington Redskins would look a lot different with Ryan Tannehill under center rather than Robert Griffin III.

According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, it was Tannehill and not RGIII that Mike Shanahan wanted to select in last year’s draft.

Bomani Jones, who co-hosts Highly Questionable with Dan Le Batard on ESPN2, tweeted Smith’s comments Monday morning with a few thoughts of his own.

Jones says it isn’t the first time he’s heard someone say Shanahan did not want to draft the Heisman Trophy winner.

On the flip side, he also points out that if Shanahan had drafted Tannehill, the coach would already be out of a job. Like the show on which Jones appears, Tannehill’s performance thus far with the Miami Dolphins has been “highly questionable.”

Prior to last season’s draft Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said the team had “fallen in love” with two players, presumably Griffin and overall first pick Andrew Luck.
