WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Several House Republicans are formally calling for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric Holder, and plan to introduce their charges against him Thursday.

Their reasons for wanting Holder impeached include his refusal to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act and the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986, as well as his failure to release documents regarding Operation Fast and Furious, Roll Call is reporting.

“Since the House voted in 2012 to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt, the pattern of disregard for the rule of law and refusal to be forthright has continued,” Texas Republican Pete Olson was quoted as saying. “The American people deserve answers and accountability. If the Attorney General refuses to provide answers, then Congress must take action.”

Olson, who is said to be leading the charge for Holder’s impeachment, additionally made available the four articles of impeachment against the attorney general on Wednesday.

They list several serious accusations against him, claiming that he “engaged in a pattern of conduct incompatible with the trust and confidence placed in him” and “violated federal law” on different occasions.

Other politicians backing the measure include Rep. Phil Roe, Rep. Ted Yoho and Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, Roll Call learned.
