UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (CBSDC) — Eleven vehicles were discovered burning in the parking lot of Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro early Wednesday morning, police say.

The charred cars, vans and buses were found by an employee arriving to work around 5 a.m. By the time the person arrived the majority of the damage had already been sustained.

Nine of them were completely burned out and “look like they were hit by a bomb 20 years ago,” according to WNEW’s John Domen.

All but one of the damaged vehicles are part of the Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation Department. Police say the non-Parks and Recreation vehicle was a car that was stolen from the District.

Authorities will review video from surveillance cameras at the park.

No injuries were reported.
