LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A man who has been arrested in connection to an alleged sexual assault of another man may have victimized at least 10 men over a decade, police say.
Joey Poindexter, 38, was arrested on Oct. 3 on charges that he sexually assaulted a man after the victim became drunk and went with Poindexter to his home in Gaithersburg after the two met at a bar in College Park.
Montgomery County Police believe Poindexter may be a sexual predator who has assaulted several young men, many of which he met at organized beer pong tournaments in the D.C. and Baltimore areas.
Photos from Poindexter’s cell phone, police say, depicted college-aged men who appeared to be in various states of consciousness and in compromising positions.
Officials believe that each of Poindexter’s victims were heavily under the influence of alcohol. There’s no evidence that Poindexter drugged his victims, but police have not yet ruled it out.
Authorities say they have identified 10 victims, one from the Oct. 3 assault, two that have contacted police, another that may come forward soon and six unidentified victims who may be pictured in Poixdexter’s cell phone photos.
Police suspect there may also be victims nationwide. Detectives say that the suspect is known to attend beer pong and extreme sports events in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Dallas, Virginia Beach and Salt Lake City.
Poindexter is being held on bond, according to police.
