FAIRFAX, Va. (CBSDC)–Two school employees are being charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from Fairfax County Public Schools.

Police arrested Sonya Swansbrough, 46, of Woodbridge, a principal at Poe Middle School in Annandale and Bethany Speed, 38, of Burke, an administrative employee at Jeb Stuart High School in Falls Church.

The investigation began in late September 2013 over allegations over falsifying timesheets for personal financial gain.

The money laundering scheme may have began as early as May 2010 and authorities believe over $100,000 may have been embezzled.

Police have also charged a third individual, Brenton Rusnak, 20, of Radford with receiving stolen property in connection with the case. Rusnak is Swansbrough’s son.
