RICHMOND, Va. — A grower in Grayson County is providing a Christmas tree that will be used at the home of Vice President Joe Biden.
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services says the tree was chosen this week from the farm of Rodney Richardson. It will be taken to Biden’s residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.
Richardson earned the right to provide the tree by winning the reserve grand champion award from the National Christmas Tree Growers Association.
The grand champion winner from Belvidere, N.J., will provide a tree for use at the White House.
Richard won a statewide contest in Virginia in 2012, enabling him to enter the national association’s contest.
