Police: Four People Shot in Northeast D.C.

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Four people were shot in Northeast Washington after a gunman opened fire Wednesday afternoon.

D.C. Police were called to the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue NE just after 1 p.m. for the report of a shooting outside a Payless Shoes store.

All four victims — three males and one female — were conscious and breathing when authorities arrived at the scene. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said at least two of the victims suffered serious injuries.

Lanier said police have several people of interest in custody but no arrests have been made yet.

Minnesota Avenue NE was closed from Blaine Street to Benning Road but has since reopened.
