Md. Middle School Officials Find Man Sleeping in Hall

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — School administrators at Brooklyn Park Middle in Anne Arundel County, Md., had to call police Wednesday morning after finding a man sleeping in the hallway.

Officers who responded shortly after 7 a.m. took him into custody and charged with burglary, trespassing and disrupting school operations.

Students entering the school were escorted to the auditorium pending a floor by floor and room by room search of the school for other possible suspects. None were found.

Review of the surveillance video revealed that the suspect entered the building through an unlocked door, walked the hallways of the school and finally laid down in the hallway near the media center.

He has been identified as 29-year-old Kenneth Michael Carpenter, of Annapolis.
