Va. Mom Let Her Son Wear KKK Halloween Costume

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The mother of a 7-year-old Virginia boy who dressed as a Ku Klux Klan member for Halloween is defending her decision to let her son don a hooded white robe and KKK symbol.

Jessica Black tells WHSV, a Harrisonburg, Va., television station, that the costume is a family tradition, and that she made it for him after he asked her to.

Black maintains that there is nothing wrong with the group or the costume, but says she did tell her son that some people might be offended by his outfit before she sent him out for Halloween festivities.

The family lives in the small town of Craigsville, Va., which is in Augusta County.
