Fairfax County Water Main Break Soaks Nearby Homes

BURKE, Va. — Authorities say a broken water main in Fairfax County in shot water at least 40 feet into the air, soaking nearby homes.

County police say residents reported the problem early Friday and officers found water shooting at least 40 feet in the air from the broken pipe near the intersection of Burke Lake and Lake Braddock roads. After about an hour, Fairfax Water crews were able to shut off the 30-inch water main.

Repair crews are still inspecting the damage, but so far there is no sign that water service to area homes has been affected.
