WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Pierre Garçon will be attending a check presentation ceremony Thursday night in Fairfax for 8-year-old Tara Sankner, a true survivor battling an inoperable form of brain cancer.

The ceremony, which also includes a pep rally – aimed at raising awareness for childhood cancer and the lack of funding and research – takes place at Paisano’s Pizza Thursday in Fair Lakes – located at 12715 Shoppes Lane, Fairfax, Va. 22033 – beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Garçon was actively involved in the ‘Let’s Take Care of Tara’ campaign, which ran from Sept. 3 to Sept. 30. Along with pledging $2,500 for every touchdown he scored against the Eagles, he brought name recognition to the cause, as Paisano’s pledged 10% of orders made on Tuesdays, to callers who mentioned the campaign.

The partnership with Paisano’s may have run it’s course, but the campaign really doesn’t end there. No cure currently exists for Astrocytoma, the cancer Tara continues to fight. Her treatment will continue, just as her medical bills will continue to rise.

Like Tara’s Facebook page for more information and to continue to support her throughout her endless battle.
