LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Firefighters originally thought the Bowie home where they were battling a blaze Wednesday morning was unoccupied, but they found two small dogs in the house after they got the fire under control.
According to Mark Brady, both dogs survived. One, a chihuahua, was near death but was revived after receiving oxygen.
The pet oxygen masks that were used were donated to the fire department.
Both dogs appeared to be in good condition and were released to their owner.
The cause and origin of the fire, which was on the 12400 block of Sandal Lane, remains under investigation.
The home is in foreclosure but at least one person occupied the home. The relationship between the occupant and the home owner is part of the on-going investigation.
