Driver Dies After Car Hits Pole in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Anne Arundel County Police say a person was killed when a car crashed into a utility pole and caught fire.

It happened about 4 a.m. Monday on Defense Highway in Annapolis. Police checking into a report of a power outage found a car in flames against a utility pole.

Police say the car was speeding when it lost control, left the road and hit the pole. The driver, the car’s only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.
