LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Metro says weekend work will affect the Red and Orange Lines starting Friday night and continuing through Sunday.

Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, trains on the Red Line will operate every 16 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont, and every eight minutes during daytime hours between Grosvenor and Silver Spring. On the Orange Line, buses will replace trains between New Carrollton and Stadium-Armorny. Trains on the Orange Line will operate on a regular weekend schedule outside the work zone, between Vienna and Stadium-Armory.

Metro says passengers should expect longer wait times at station platforms. Once trains depart, however, Metro says passengers should not experience delays.

On the Blue, Yellow and Green Lines, trains will operate on regular weekend schedule.

On Columbus Day, Oct. 14, Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight. Trains will operate on a Saturday schedule on all lines with no track work in effect. Parking at all Metro-owned lots and garages is free on Monday.
