LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — For the second time in as many days, morning commuters faced massive delays in Maryland.
The Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway was closed for more than two hours after a mobile home became dislodged in a three-vehicle crash south of Route 450 in Lanham. The dislodged camper blocked all but the left shoulder of the roadway.
Two left lanes of the Beltway re-opened around 6:20 a.m. after the debris and the vehicles were able to be moved. The two other lanes have since been cleared and opened.
Around 4 a.m., a truck carrying two trailers collided with a separate truck hauling the mobile home. An SUV then slammed into the mobile home which came to rest perpendicular to the road.
The driver of the SUV has been taken to the Prince George’s Hospital in serious and non-stable condition.
All traffic was diverted onto Route 450 while the accident was being cleared.
One day earlier, a pair of accidents — one fatal — brought traffic to a standstill along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and the Outer Loop of the Beltway.
WNEW’s John Domen tweeted updates from the scene.
