Tapp: London Fletcher ‘Hands Down’ Best Player on Redskins’ Defense

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - Linebacker Darryl Tapp, in his first season with Washington, says after four games, 38-year-old London Fletcher has been the best player on the Redskins’ defense in 2013, “hands down.”
In an interview Holden and Danny on 106.7 The Fan on Tuesday, Tapp was asked by Danny Rouhier to name the best defensive player up to this point in the season, and his response would indicate that no respect has been lost for Fletcher in the locker room.
“Darryl, I’ll ask you this, put you on the spot: best player so far on the defense here for the Washington Redskins?” Rouhier asked.
“Oh, London Fletcher,” Tapp said. “Hands down.”
“Really?” Rouhier said, stunned.
“Hands down, that guy’s unbelievable,” Tapp said.
“Help us with that a little bit,” Rouhier said. “We were actually just talking about this before you came on, and London, listen, an unbelievable career, a Hall of Famer in my mind, finally getting the attention he deserves towards the end, but we’ve seen him miss tackles like we’ve never seen London Fletcher play. Is he still playing at that high of a level to you?”
“Still playing at a high level,” Tapp said. “London’s a man that makes this whole defense work. Without him, it’s a tough task to try to replace him. I know y’all probably would say Ryan Kerrigan, who’s been playing lights out as well, but London is the thing that really makes this defense and makes the team go. He’s a leader, he’s been there before, he’s going to be there again, and like you said, he’s a Hall of Fame player.”
