– Republicans and Democrats know just who to blame if the government shuts down on Tuesday…each other.

GOP Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Democratic Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) hurled accusations on CBS’ Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer.

Republicans have been trying to find a way to shut down Obamacare, and Rep. Blackburn called the latest proposal to take a one year “time out” before implementing the health reform law a “reasonable request.”

She added Republican leaders are dismayed by the president’s refusal to negotiate with them and even suggested President Obama wants a government shutdown to happen.

The president has repeatedly said his signature health care law, which goes into effect Oct. 1st,  is not a subject for political debate.

Rep. Van Hollen said Republican critiques of the health care law are a “total hoax” and accused the GOP of running a “campaign of distortion.”

He blasted ultra-conservative Republicans as being in thrall of Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who spoke for 21 hours on the Senate floor against the legislation.

The continued fighting gives analysts little hope that a shutdown can be averted before the looming deadline.
