Viewing Being Held for Navy Yard Shooting Victim

GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A viewing is being held for one of the victims of the Sept. 16 Navy Yard shooting.

The viewing for security guard Richard Michael Ridgell is being held Friday at Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie. A funeral is planned for Saturday at The Church at Severn Run.

The 52-year-old Ridgell was one of 12 people killed by gunman Aaron Alexis during a shooting rampage on Sept. 16. Ridgell was a former Maryland State Police trooper and worked for the state police from 1983 to 2000. He was also a fan of the Baltimore Ravens and served as a drummer in the all-volunteer Baltimore Colts Marching Band before the Ravens era.

He was a father to three daughters.
