Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Killing Man with a Sword
BALTIMORE — A man convicted of fatally stabbing another man with a sword drawn from a walking cane after a dispute over a football bet has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Forty-seven-year-old Todd Marrow had been convicted in July of second-degree murder in the death of 47-year-old Orville Chamblee in Baltimore. Marrow was also ordered to serve three years of probation at sentencing Friday.
Prosecutors say in February 2012, Marrow had refused to pay Chamblee a bet, and Marrow believed that Chamblee had slashed his car’s tires.
Authorities say Marrow attacked Chamblee with the sword that had been hidden in the cane, stabbing Chamblee in the thigh. The sword lacerated a major vein and artery, and Chamblee died at Shock Trauma.
