Alleged Stripper Denies Assaulting Ravens Receiver
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — The woman who allegedly assaulted Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones aboard a party bus is denying a physical assault ever occurred and that she is a stripper.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh says the incident occurred early Monday morning and that Jones is “fine.”
Jones and his teammates were returning from the District of Columbia after celebrating offensive lineman Bryant McKinnie’s birthday when Jones was hurt.
TMZ reports a fight reportedly broke out on board that bus and sources say an exotic dancer named “Sweet Pea” hit Jones over the head with a “gigantic” Ace of Spades Champagne bottle.
Police officials say Jones was bleeding from the head but refused treatment, CBS Baltimore reported.
“Sweet Pea” broke her silence late Monday night on Twitter in response to photos posted on the sports tabloid site Busted Coverage.
“I would like to clear up the fact that I’m a waitress & the girls on the pic aren’t a bunch of strippers. Jacoby & I had a verbal confrontation & that was it!!! I never hit him with a bottle & I wish ppl (sic) would stop spreading lies on the internet,” she tweeted.
Harbaugh did not provide details of the altercation. The coach did say Jones “went through everything today that he was supposed to go through.”
Jones is rehabilitating a knee injury and has not played since the season opener.
Harbaugh says he scolded Jones and addressed the team. He says, “It’s not something we want to be known for. … It’s nothing to be proud of. I’m kind of disappointed in that sense.”
